The book I read

The name is rajinikanth by Gayathri Sreekanth. When this book was released last year I was curious to read it,finally I got a copy of it last week.
It was a good attempt to portray the life of a great actor, needs courage to write about his early troubled life keeping in mind not to hurt his fans. When we start reading this book we get to know charisma he still has in Tamil Nadu. His public speeches ,news he made in politics during 1996 are well written, when whatever Raniji did became the news of the state.

There are some parts well written about the friendship he had with Bahadur. We can learn what is real friendship which makes his friend a true real life hero. One can achieve success by making sacrifices in his life, here we find a person who makes sacrifices for the success of his fried.
May be I was not a ardent fan of Rajini before reading this book but after reading it I have become his fan for his simplicity.

Site I came accross!

Today I started my day reading few blogs, in one of the blog I came across this sitegapminder.
The blog mainly speaks about the dramatic increase in life expectancy which was 40 years last century and how much we have improved from that stage. It has has data about the per ca pita income of the people living in different parts of the world.
The beauty of the site is the way they have made the statistics look appealing, simple and informative. Visual representation of statistical data makes us wonder how much we have progressed over the last few years.
Good to see countries like India are heading in north east direction (IE) their percapita income as well as life expectancy is an increasing curve corresponding to period of time.
Apart from these comparison there are lot more information in that site to learn
Here is list of other stats put in the site.

Election rally near our place

I thought this year s election will never interfere me apart from the media which shouts about it everyday. Today morning I went to my uncles house near by,I saw party flags planted on both sides of the road.Worse ,there was a loudspeaker which was blasting tunes of latest Tamil movies songs expect for the lyrics which were manipulated to suit that political party. Few hours later there was few police bikes moving to and fro inspecting the ground situation.
Later I heard drumbeats firecrackers blasting around. Then I saw few people coming in bright shirts with their party symbols embossed in it. It was looking more like a circus carnival where these party people were dancing and running around ,the man who is supposed to be center of attraction(MP nominee) was standing like a joker waving hands at whatever direction he likes.
Myself and my uncle were standing in the balcony ,when they crossed our house somebody in the jeep pointed to the joker that we are looking at him,he automatically raised both his hands above his head (periya KUMBUDU)and was giving a sympathetic look to vote for him.Pity he doesn't know I am not eligible to vote in that constituency.
This is good time to be an Indian citizen ,once in a blue moon we will be respected.

Last Sunday-my first look at Nano

Last Sunday my friend had come down from Bangalore , he needed to do some summer shopping. We decided to goto spencers mainly to escape from the Chennai heat. While shopping around we entered into westside ,there we first saw the real model of TATA NANO at the entrance.

It was wonderfully designed. We took turns to sit at the drivers seat and experience the comfort. The legspace was good ,seating was comfortable and view was excellent.
Good thing they havent compromised on the quality beacuse of the low price.
One should really appriciate the hardwork and creativity people(tata motors employees) have put inspite of political controvorsies which marred its production.

I m eagerly waiting to see nano on Indian roads soon!!

My friend a Philatelist!

The day started badly for me as my office bus didn't arrive at the bus stop, I was standing for more than an hour when I was about to leave from the place a replacement bus came. After an uneventful day in the office I left for my friends house.
He s my school friend and I had touch with him over yahoo and orkut over the past few years, last weekend when I was returning from Trichy I met him after a long time.
His hobby is philately and he asked me to come and see his collections. After reaching his home he started showing his excel and how he maintained his collections. Then I got to know the basic facts like first day cover, blocks of four,Commemorative, definitive series etc.It sounded Greek Latin to me first but after 2 hours I too started speaking on those terms.
I was amazed by his collections, in fact he has collected all Commemorative stamps released by post independent India from a 10Rs Gandhiji stamp issued in 1948 to latest ones issued in 2009.Apart from that he had entire collection of miniatures.
It took more than 3 hours to see not even half of his collections. Apart from collecting stamps he was telling about the way he preserves and maintains the stamps,so that it doesn't get damaged or gets old.I gathered lots of useful information from this meeting. He told about a website where we can find all stamps released by India named stampsofindia.
For me hobby is just for time pass reading book or watching TV one way to kill time but from him I learned that hobby is something you do useful in your free time!

Election time once again !!!

Its election time once again for the largest democracy in the world. Its time for us to elect a stable government. Steps taken by election commission like banning graffiti, posters ,wall paintings etc are to be welcomed. When I talked with friends in Kerala(which is going to election today),they said no one could say that elections are around the corner.Expect for the media which remembers us everyday that we have elections I personally never felt the election fever this time. And this is positive factor as our personal lives are not affected by loud political speeches, rallies etc.Hope the elections are held peacefully this year and we get a positive result after the election!!!
